January Teen Court 2016

Case 1: The defendant claimed that taking the money away from the victim was all a joke. Do you believe he was telling the truth? Or was he hiding something from the court?

Case 2: Seeing how confident the defendant was during his case, do you feel like he actually learned a lesson or will he continue with his old habits? Should he look for help because of his addiction with fire?

I do not believe he was telling the truth at no time during the incident did the defendant state to the victim that this was all a joke. I think this is just a way of sugar coating things for the jury as well as the audience. He knew it was not a joke but he stated it was a prank only to make it seem like it was not that bad of a thing. He was most likely hiding something from the court since the defendant did see the victim as an easy target which leads me to believe that they were going with the intention of taking the money,

The defendant looked too confident, as well as too quick to reply to any question that was thrown at him. I do not think he learned his lesson he will only see it as a chance to learn where it is allowed to start fires without being accountable for any consequences. He should definitely look for help, since this addiction with fire would not lead to anything good in the future. This addiction may lead him towards mistakes that he may not be able to turn away from anymore. So seeking help on how to get rid of this addiction would benefit him greatly in the long run.

1) I believe he was tellin the truth. It seemed like the defendant did not know the Consequences that would happen by "joking around".
2) I think the defendant will learn his mistakes by going to teen court because this was a warning for him to have him not do it again.

Case 1: I believe the defendant was telling the truth because he was consistent with his story in the police report and throughout the trial.
Case 2: I do not believe the defendant was going to go through with his probation because he did not seem to fully understand the consequences and was inconsistent with his story.

1) I believe the defendant was telling the truth. He did not know the consequences of "joking around" until after it happened. The defendant will now understand his mistakes.

2) yes I believe the defendant will learn from his mistake. Now he knows the serious consequences for his actions

1. I think the defendant was very honest because the charges and his story were consistent.
2. The defendant was probably going to continue his bad habits especially since his story and the charges did not correlate and he sounded to be lying.

Case 1: I believe the defendant was telling the truth. He was very consistent with his story and didn't try to .ale himself look better.
Case 2: I feel like the defendant will continue with his bad habits. He didn't seem fully aware of the consequences and he kept changing his story.

1. I think he was telling the truth about the money because he kept on with his story he didn't seem to get confused on what he was saying.

2. I don't believe he gonna go through probation because it looked like he didn't care at that point and if he didn't then he doesn't want to be on the right track .

Case 1: I feel the defendant was telling the truth due to the reason that he seemed very honest and sincere. And the story he was mentioning did seem to fall in place
Case 2: I feel the defendant seemed a little too confident and had rehearsed a few questions with a family member because he would answer most of the time before the question was asked. And I do believe he needs help to control his temptation of playing with fire.

I feel like he was being honest and sincere because he felt like he was telling the truth and did mean it as a joke but he took it to far and so he got in trouble.

I do not think the defendant learned his lesson because ge felt very confident in his answers and the fact that he was not found guilty would make him think it was alright to have done what he did.

The fist one the guy was telling the truth but I think that robbing someone as joke is kind of messed up

For the second one I don't think he would be starting fires anytime soon after getting caught and stuff.

1. I think the defendant did say the truth and he though that it was a prank because it seemed that he wanted it to be a prank but he took it too far and he didnt realize that he took things too far.

2. I think the defendant did learn a lesson and i dont think he'll mess with fire again like that and his dad looks like a good parent so i think that he'll look after his son. I don't think he needs help on his problem with fire because i think that it can be controlled by him and his dad.

Case 1: I believe that the defendant was, in a way, trying to justify his actions by claiming that it was all a joke. So, no, in my opinion, the defendant was lying; I also think that due to the fact that he was lying, he must've been hiding something from the court.

Case 2: I believe that it takes a lot for a person to change their ways/ habits, therefore the defendant will probably have a hard time changing if he really wanted to. Going off on the defendant's attitude and actions, I also believe that essentially, he will continue his old habits. He should also look for help pertaining to his addiction for fire.

1. I don't think he was telling the truth because if it were a joke the money should have been returned to the victim right away not to the brother of the victim after some time had passed.

2. If he doesn't get help for his fire addiction then he might continue with his old habits.

1) I believe the defendant was telling the truth because he was very honest and his answers appeared to be sincere. Also, his story and answers stayed the same throughout the case.

2) I believe the defendant will continue with his bad habits because it is an addiction and it is very difficult to break that. Hopefully, he seeks therapy immediately because his addiction can lead to possible deaths of others.

1. I believe the defendant was being honest through out the trial. He was being consistent about his story.
2. I think that the defendant will continue with his bad habitats. I also do think he should look help for his addiction with fire.

Case 1. I feel as if he defendant was honest and truthful because his story was consistent, it didn't seem as if he was hiding something from the court

Case 2. feel as if he will continue his bad about and should seek help because it didn't seem as if he was full aware of the consequences and continued to change his story.

1. I believe the defendant was not telling the truth because he played it all off as a joke. It seemed like he was holding back some truth if it was an easy target for him to steal from.

2. The defendant seemed a bit too confident when answering. I believe there will be trouble with his probation because this, in his case, only served as a test run for what not to do the next time around. He should definitely look into getting help for his fire addiction. Fire isn't something to mess around with because it can turn on the user.

Case 1: I definitely believe that there was something more sinister behind the motives for this individual to take this money because I doubt an inexperienced prankster would go that far to take so little. It'd be a pretty frightening situation for the victim in which case I would classify it as anything less than just a mere joke.

Case 2: This individual most likely won't attempt anything so radical in a public place again seeing as something he deemed was "so small" would get him through such a big dilemma. He probably won't seek help either since he thinks it's something easy to avoid from now on.

1. I do believe it was a joke because it was only a dollar, but because he used an aggressive tone towards the victim became a serious issue.
2. I don't think he learned his lesson because he still has those other bad habits such as ditching and not completing his homework. His obsession with fire should call for extra measures dug as counseling and maybe do something good in life such as being a pyrotechnic

I think that the defendant didnt see the consequences of his actions and he didnt think that the victim of his "joke" was going to see it as a prank. He was influenced by videos that he saw online and he expected to receive the same reaction that he saw on the videos but he didn't.

The defendant seemed confident but that doesn't mean that he won't learn his lesson. I think that his dad will lead him on the right direction.

1.I think that the defendant was telling the truth because he kept his story on topic and looked sincere and he did not make an effort to make himself look good.

2.The defendant seemed very self-assured and will continue to learn by his mistakes while attending Teen Court and will most likely leave his habit behind.

Case 1:I don't think the individual was telling the truth because it seemed as though he was not sincere throughout the story he was telling.

Case 2: This individual needs serious help. I feel as though he will continue with his old habits and do as he pleases since he got away with this case.

1. I dont believe the defendant was telling the truth. He did not seem to honest in his sincerity.

2.This defendant seemed a little too confident when responding to the jurors questions. But, I do believe he will learn from his mistakes from coming to Teen Court
